According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website,
www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov, hundreds of thousands of VWs are being recalled because of
malfunctioning brake lights and brake light switches that sometimes don't work
right. "Volkswagen recalled 362,000 VW Jetta and New Beetle vehicles in the fall of
2006 and this new recall adds another 428,000 potential lemon Volkswagen vehicles to
the recall list," says Ronald Burdge, the founder of OhioLemonLaw.com and
KentuckyLemonLaw.com.

It turns out that brake lights and switches are malfunctioning, and that can be
dangerous, reports Burdge Law Office's lemon lawyers. The problem apparently comes
from improper installation of brake system electrical switches which can cause the
brake lights not to work, get stuck in the "on" position, or fail to provide the
proper signal at all, and that can lead to a crash.

"If you own a dangerous lemon VW or another lemon car or lemon truck, you may be
entitled to your money back or a new vehicle," says Burdge, adding "Not all
Volkswagens are affected by the recall though so ask your VW dealer or go online and
read the official notice VW gave to federal safety officials, including the serial
numbers involved."

NHTSA website.
